The girls in our troop are encouraged to take opportunities to work on religious patches and awards during their time in American Heritage Girls. Below are some of the options available from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS) and the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM). There are also options available from the PRAY Program - a Bible-based religious emblems program for Protestants. For a girl to earn one of these patches, they must complete the requirements for the patch, and then bring the list of completed requirements to the Troop Coordinator for Vice Coordinator for approval. The troop will order the patches for presentation at the next award ceremony. As with all patches earned outside of meetings, the cost of the patches must be reimbursed to the troop (unless otherwise specified).

NFCYM Religious Recognition Programs and Awards
The Diocese of Lansing, in conjunction with the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry, offers a medal program to girls registered with our troop. There are a series of 5 different medals that the girls can earn during their time in AHG. The first of these awards, "Family of God" can be earned starting in 2nd grade. Girls who have completed their religious medal award program will receive their medals in an annual award ceremony held at St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing. We generally work on these medals as a troop during our regular meetings. For more information about these medals, please visit the NFCYM website at: http://www.nfcym.org/ .
